Queen Camilla swiftly removed jewellery gifted by Melania Trump after departing the White House today.
Following a day in New York, King Charles and Queen Camilla travelled back to Washington DC to bid farewell to Donald Trump and the First Lady.
Queen Camilla chose to wear a denim blue wool dress designed by Anna Valentine for the occasion.
In addition, she accessorised with a Tiffany brooch, a gift from the First Lady during the Windsor State Visit last year.
The choice of jewellery carried particular diplomatic significance, serving as a nod to the relationship between the two couples.
However, upon arriving at Arlington National Cemetery, the Queen had switched her brooch to a Cartier design featuring both the Union Jack and the American flag.
It happened to be the same jewel worn by Her Majesty when arriving at Joint Base Andrews on Monday.
This special brooch was presented to the late Queen Elizabeth II in 1957 by Robert F. Wagner Jr., a former Mayor of New York.

This was to commemorate Her Late Majesty's six-day visit to the city, which took place in October that year.
That State Visit, which occurred at the height of the Cold War, reinforced the ties of friendship between the United States and Great Britain.
It echoed the highly significant diplomatic visit undertaken by the late Queen’s parents, King George VI and the Queen Mother, in June 1939, in the lead-up to World War Two.
By wearing this brooch, Queen Camilla may have been sending a message about the importance of the special relationship between the US and the UK, particularly in the wake of the fallout between Sir Keir Starmer and President Trump.

Camilla was still wearing the patriotic brooch for her trip to Virginia on Thursday, where Their Majesties attended a block party in Front Royal.
They later separated into two different engagements, with the King at Shenandoah National Park and the Queen visiting Smitten Farm.
King Charles is due to travel to Bermuda, marking the King’s first trip to a British Overseas Territory since his accession.
Queen Camilla is not joining her husband in Bermuda.

The Bermuda leg of the tour will take place from April 30 to May 2 2026, and will focus on celebrating the island’s culture, environment, youth programmes and public service.
It is also expected to highlight the constitutional and historical ties between Bermuda and the United Kingdom, as well as the territory’s role within the wider Commonwealth network.
The programme in Bermuda is set to include a ceremonial welcome, complete with a Guard of Honour and a 21-gun salute, reflecting traditional royal protocol.
The King is also expected to undertake a series of engagements across the island.
