Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has praised Princess Kate's "very moving letter" ahead of her fourth Westminster Abbey carol service, highlighting its powerful message of love during difficult times.

The Princess of Wales penned a heartfelt message to the 1,600 attendees of the upcoming Christmas carol service, encouraging people to "turn to love, not fear".

The letter, which will be shared at Westminster Abbey on December 6, reflects on the importance of empathy and understanding during the festive season.

"This is the fourth carol service, in fact, that she will have organised," Fitzwilliams told GB News, emphasising the event's significance and noting that it would reach audiences through 15 additional centres across the country.

The event will feature several notable celebrities, including Sir Chris Hoy, who has a terminal diagnosis.

Michelle Dockery, Richard E Grant, and Sophie Okonedo will also participate in the service, with Prince William set to give a reading.

The carol service will be broadcast on Christmas Eve, reaching audiences worldwide.

"It will have, which is wonderful, maximum coverage, of course, because it's being broadcast on Christmas Eve. So that will be wonderful," Fitzwilliams noted.

"It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life, that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness," she wrote.

Fitzwilliams highlighted how the public can relate to Princess Kate during challenging times.

"Bringing up a family in the conditions that have been so traumatic this year, I think the people can feel and identify with her more in this particular respect," he said.

He also commended the couple's focused approach to charitable work.

"William and Catherine are attached to far fewer charities - so many senior royals used to be linked to hundreds, but they do so much more for the ones they have," Fitzwilliams explained.

He added: "They do so much more for the ones that they are actually attached to, and I think make more of an impact in that way."

The Together At Christmas carol service will take place at Westminster Abbey on Friday, December 6, with the Prince and Princess of Wales leading the Royal Family members in attendance.
