Kate's response was reportedly sent to and approved by the late Queen
Kate Middleton's "tough" reply to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's claims about racism and discrimination within the Royal Family were allegedly endorsed by the Queen.
The Princess of Wales reportedly took a strong hand in a draft response to the claims made by the couple on the Oprah Winfrey show in March 2021.
The Sussexes made claims of racism and discrimination within the Royal Family to which Buckingham Palace issued a statement saying while "some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately".
Sources claim Kate "insisted" on including "recollections", but added that "history will judge this statement".

PAOne royal source said that Kate appears to be playing "the long game", but is much stronger behind closed doors.
The source added: "She does not get as much credit as she should, because she is so subtle about it.
"She is playing the long game. She has always got her eye on, 'This is my life and my historic path and I am going to be the Queen one day'," they told The Times.
Following the allegations, Meghan has spoken about the start of her relationship with Kate, describing an awkward first meeting.
The fallout appeared to continue with Prince Harry revealing an argument over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress, claiming the incident left Meghan "sobbing on the floor".
It was claimed by Harry that the incident was largely driven by Kate, who was annoyed about having to wait a day to hear back from Meghan about the dress.
In a TV interview, he also accused Kate of "stereotyping" Meghan, saying her behaviour created a barrier.
However, a one royal expert said Harry was "fooling himself" if he thought his wife and Kate were going to be "best of buddies".

PAAccording to editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine and royal biographer Ingrid Seward, Kate will be "upset and angry" with Harry for speaking out about her.
She said: "To my understanding, you can't ever wear the same colour as Her Majesty if there's a group event.
"But then you also should never be wearing the same colour as one of the other more senior members of the family."
