The younger Princess of York has previously been left out of the drama surrounding Prince Andrew's Newsnight interview

Princess Eugenie is set for a tough week as the royal will join Princess Beatrice in the limelight.

On Thursday, A Very Royal Scandal will drop on Amazon Prime - a series dramatising Prince Andrew's 2019 Newsnight interview.

In a shift from previous dramatisations, actresses have been cast to play both the Duke of York's daughters - Princess Beatrice, 36, and Princess Eugenie, 34.

Beatrice will be no stranger to the limelight, as actress Charity Wakefield was cast to play the older Princess of York in the Netflix film Scoop about the same interview, released earlier this year.

Scoop, based on a book by former Newsnight producer Sam McAlister, showed how Princess Beatrice accompanied her father to a meeting with the Newsnight team ahead of the interview.

No actresses were cast to play her younger brother Eugenie, nor their mother Sarah Ferguson.

In contrast, A Very Royal Scandal, which is being executively produced by Emily Maitlis, has cast actresses Sofia Oxenham as Eugenie and Claire Rushbrook as the Duchess of York.

It is not known how big a role Andrew's family members will play in the Amazon Prime series, although Beatrice did feature often in the trailer.

Honor Swinton Byrne has been cast as Princess Beatrice, who can be seen in the trailer beside Michael Sheen (playing the Duke of York) in a meeting with the Newsnight team.

Princess Eugenie did not accompany her father and older sister during these negotiations, so it is unclear what role she will take in the upcoming series.

The Newsnight interview made headlines around the world after Prince Andrew spoke at length about his friendship with the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

Following the interview, the duke stepped back from public life and no longer performs royal duties.

In 2022, Queen Elizabeth II stripped her son of his honorary military medals and titles.

Prince Andrew now spends the majority of his time at Royal Lodge in Windsor, his home since 2003.

The duke is currently locked in crunch talks with King Charles regarding his Windsor property.

The monarch is understood to want Andrew to move into a smaller and less expensive property.
