The streaming giant continues to spark fury

Netflix has teased an upcoming storyline between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed in Season Six of The Crown, despite furious backlash over other things in the royal programme.

Diana and Dodi began a romance in 1997, and both tragically died in a car crash on August 31, 1997.

New pictures from Season Six show the late couple sitting in a car, portrayed by Elizabeth Debicki and Khalid Abdalla.

The streaming giant has come under hot water over other storylines that are expected to hit screens in November.

Prince William is reportedly "sickened" over his late mother Princess Diana being depicted as a ghost in the new series, who will be portrayed by the actress Debicki.

Debicki will appear after her death to have an emotional reconciliation with then-Prince Charles, as played by Dominic West.

Diana will also pay a visit to Queen Elizabeth II, as played by Imelda Staunton, to discuss her funeral arrangements.

A Netflix source has defended their decision by claiming that the appearances of Debicki as Diana after her death were "visualisations of innermost thoughts".

Prince William is said to feel that the streaming giant is "ruthlessly exploiting" the Royal Family, according to a friend of the royal.

A friend of the Prince of Wales said: "William is angry about a lot of things in connection with Harry.

"His decision to work with Netflix, who have ruthlessly exploited the family, is certainly one of them."

They also told the Daily Beast: "It’s incredibly hurtful to have his mother exploited over and over again in this tawdry fashion by Netflix.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed lucrative deals with Netflix in September 2020 and have produced several pieces of content for the streaming platform.

One such piece of content was their docuseries, Harry & Meghan, which explored their time inside the Royal Family.
