Princess Charlotte burst into floods of tears in reaction to Prince William growing a beard.
The Prince of Wales revealed his daughter's response to his facial hair during a candid interview in South Africa.
Prince William said: "Well Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears, the first one I got a tears, so I have to shave it off. And then I grew it back.
"I thought, hang on a second and I convinced her it was going to be okay".

The Prince of Wales added: "I couldn't be less relaxed this year, so it's very interesting you're all seeing that.
"But it's more a case of just crack on and you’ve got to keep going.
"I enjoy my work and I enjoy pacing myself and... (making) sure that I have got time for my family too."
Prince Harry has sported a beard for many years and it was at the centre of a falling out between the Duke of Sussex and Prince William.

Speaking to ITV ahead of the publication of his memoir Spare, Prince Harry detailed how he had sought permission from Queen Elizabeth II to keep his beard on his wedding day in 2018.
The Armed Forces had strict rules around facial hair while in uniform.
Harry claimed while the Queen had been amenable to the beard, Prince William was not.

However, Harry kept his beard for his wedding day and has rarely made a public appearance clean-shaven in the following years.
Harry told Bradby he did not think Meghan would have recognised him clean-shaven and he "would feel very, very different without my beard".
The Duke of Sussex added: "That's hard for people to understand who've never grown a beard but hopefully those beard people out there will go, 'Yeah, I get that, I can understand'."
