The Prince of Wales will launch his programme which has been in the works for two years

Prince William will soon launch his ambitious homelessness project, sources have claimed.

The 41-year-old spent Friday at Royal Ascot along with other members of the Firm.

He will next week unveil what many consider a career defining moment, The Telegraph has claimed.

The Prince of Wales's long-term homelessness programme has been in the works for two years.

Sources close to the father-of-three have revealed the project will demonstrate the monarchy's ambition to modernise.

Prince William has spent the last few weeks garnering political support.

He has reportedly also been briefing ministers and civil servants about the plans.

However, the project could see Prince William follow in the footsteps of his late mother Princess Diana.

Diana took her eldest son to a homeless shelter when he was aged 11.

Prince William voiced his appreciation for joining his mother at the homeless shelter in a podcast interview recorded in March.

He said he was "really glad" she had introduced him to the cause but revealed she would be "disappointed" efforts to tackle homelessness have since fallen flat.

The future King recently revealed he was also exposing his three children to the plight facing homeless people.

He told The Sunday Times: "When I left this morning, one of the things I was thinking was when is the right time to bring George or Charlotte or Louis to a homeless organisation?'

"I think when I can balance it with their schooling, they will definitely be exposed to it.

"On the school run, we talk about what we see.

"When we were in London, driving backwards and forwards, we regularly used to see people sitting outside supermarkets and we'd talk about it."
