The Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales are not on speaking terms

Prince William and Prince Harry are set to avoid an awkward meeting in New York next month.

The Duke of Sussex will head to New York during UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week.

Climate Week starts on September 22 and ends on September 29, while High-level Week begins on September 23 and runs until September 27.

Prince William's Earthshot Prize is also holding an event in New York that week.

The Earthshot Innovation Summit is scheduled to take place at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan on September 24.

However, the Prince of Wales will not attend the event in the US.

It is unlikely that William would have chosen to reunite with Prince Harry even if the two brothers had been in New York at the same time.

The Prince of Wales is not on speaking terms with his brother following the publication of Harry's autobiography Spare in January 2023.

The Duke of Sussex's memoir contained several attacks on the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Prince Harry and the Prince of Wales's relationship has deteriorated since he stepped down as a working royal in 2020 and the brothers have not seen each other in over a year.

During an interview with ITV in July for the documentary Tabloids on Trial, Prince Harry opened up on his "destroyed" relationship with his family.

Journalist Rebecca Barry asked the royal: "To what extent do you think your determination to fight the tabloids destroyed your relationship with your family?"

Prince Harry replied: "It is certainly a central piece to it.

"It is a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press. I have made it very clear that this is something that needs to be done.

"It would be nice if we did it as a family, I believe from a service standpoint and when you are in a public role these are the things we should be doing for the greater good. I am doing this for my reasons."

Barry then asked: "What do you think of their decision not to fight in the way you have?"

Harry said: "I think that everything that has played out has shown people what the truth of the matter is, for me the mission continues. I think as you say, it has caused part of a rift."
