The Prince of Wales recalls visiting his first homelessness shelter with Prince Harry and his mother
Prince William has been hailed for following his heart in his new documentary.
Fans have praised the Prince of Wales following the two-part documentary Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, which follows the future King's Homewards initiative project launched last year.
The project aims to combat homelessness in the UK and focuses on six locations around the UK.
William also mentioned his brother Prince Harry during the documentary in what appeared to be an olive branch amid their feud.
The Prince of Wales has credited his mother Princess Diana for inspiring him to be ambitious in his goals.
William said: "I have taken some inspiration and guidance from what my mother did, particularly with homelessness. That has grown more over the last few years.
The prince also revealed that he speaks to his children about homelessness.
He said: "When I was very small my mother started talking about homelessness - much like I do now with my children on the school run.
"It's something that had a deep resonation with me."
Princess Diana took William, aged 11, and Prince Harry to his first homeless shelter visit in December 1993.
The Prince of Wales is not on speaking terms with his younger brother, Prince Harry after the Duke of Sussex stepped down as a working royal and moved to California with his wife, Meghan Markle.
William described the experience in his new documentary: "I'd never been to anything like that before."
"I remember at the time kind-of thinking, well if everyone's not got a home, they're all going to be really sad. But it was incredible how happy an environment it was."
"There are other people out there who don't have the same life as you do."
"She made sure that when she grew up that the life outside palace walls thing was real, you know, not just a statement."
