Prince William was worried he would "fall asleep" while watching his beloved football team after the Earthshot Prize Awards.

The Prince of Wales, 41, took part in a question-and-answer session on his official Instagram account.

On his Instagram Story, William shared his plans to watch the latest Aston Villa game when he returned from Singapore.

The 41-year-old made the solo trip for the third annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony, which he founded in 2020.

The Earthshot Prize intends to promote impactful approaches to the world's environmental challenges, with plans to award five £1million prizes annually until 2030.

Prince William's Q&A session focused mainly on Earthshot, where he admitted the best part of the prize ceremony was “hearing the stories and seeing the winners do their acceptance speech".

The Prince of Wales is President of the Football Association and is a longtime fan of Aston Villa.

His eldest son Prince George, 10, is also a Villa fan - having attended many games with William.

Prince William was asked which team he thinks will win the European Cup this year.

He said: “I should say, will Villa win a European cup this year, is probably more accurate.

“I would like to think they would. I think we've got a good chance in the Europa Conference league.

"And actually, we get back tomorrow, and I'm rather looking forward to tuning into Villa's game against Alkmaar, which will be at Villa Park."

Prince William admitted that he considered attending the game, which Villa ended up winning 2-1.

However, he thought the jet lag would negatively impact his experience.

The prince joked: "I think I might actually fall asleep watching the game.

“But I’ll be watching it from home, cheering on the Villans.”
