The Duke of Sussex spoke about the dangers of AI and misinformation
Prince Harry appeared to reference riots in the UK as he issued a warning during the first day of his tour of Colombia.
The Duke of Sussex warned how quickly disinformation and misinformation can be shared on social media, leading to real-world consequences.
The speech came after riots swept the UK earlier in August after the killing of three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport.
The disorder was largely sparked by false rumours on social media that the suspect was a Muslim asylum seeker.
During his trip, Prince Harry, 39, said "what happens online within a matter of minutes transfers to the streets" during a summit on digital responsibility.
The father-of-two added: "People are acting on information that isn't true."
Harry's comments were made during a summit about creating a healthier digital landscape in collaboration with the Archewell Foundation.
This engagement came after Harry and Meghan visited a local Colombian school, the Colegio Cultura Popular.

The couple spoke to children about their favourite and least favourite parts of social media, technology and dealing with life on the internet.
Meghan told the group to aim to be "self-reliant and not tech-reliant", while Harry asked about the conversations they have with their families about managing social media and literacy.
The duke and duchess arrived in Colombia on Thursday for a four-day tour of the South American country.
They were greeted in the capital Bogota on Thursday by Colombia's vice-president Francia Marquez.
