Harry's support 'hasn't been enough' to make Meghan's ailing jam brand a success

Prince Harry has been blasted for "never having any idea" about being a businessman as the Sussexes' brand plans continue to falter.

Meghan Markle had "soft launched" the pair's lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, back in March - but despite sending out jars of Sussex-branded strawberry jam to Hollywood A-listers, it appears things haven't gone to plan.

Alongside the jams, Meghan is understood to have filed to register a number of trademarks for homewares, make-up and pet food - but has run into difficulty when trying to find partners to kick-start her brand.

And in a bombshell new claim from royal author Tom Quinn, American Riviera Orchard's failings could be a sign the Sussexes' plans are in "serious trouble".

Quinn said: "Harry has never had any real idea about becoming an entrepreneur or a businessman in his own right," speaking to the Mirror.

He continued: "He is trained from birth to do one thing only - to be a royal, and he has thrown that away.

"His one hundred per cent support for his wife and her business ventures has never wavered - but it hasn't been enough to make a success of her company.

"Meghan is proof that self-belief won't always guarantee success. It won't always make you a great entrepreneur and businesswoman."

American Riviera Orchard found itself at the centre of a copyright scandal just over a month ago when a "copycat" website "stole the Duchess of Sussex's initiative".

A new shop, bearing the same name as Meghan's trademark, had surfaced online - selling anti-monarchist wares "celebrating all walks of life" and "the resilience of the working class".

But Quinn's lament for the couple's inability to turn their business fortunes around came as Meghan celebrated her 43rd birthday yesterday.

But alongside well-wishes from Sussex supporters, the duchess came under fire from an unlikely source.

Harry has come under fire from the head of the Trump household

The Sussexes were slammed by none other than Donald Trump's son Eric, who - despite professing his reverence for the Royal Family as a whole, told GB News that Meghan and Harry were like "spoiled apples".

Trump said: "You can happily have those two [Meghan and Harry], we might not want them anymore, it feels like they’re on an island of their own.

"You can always have bad actors in everything. You can have spoiled apples in every orchard."

As well as Eric's condemnation, Harry came under fire from the head of the Trump household in a world exclusive interview with GB News in March - in a shock reveal, Donald Trump said the prince could be kicked out of the US should he win back the White House in November.
