Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing to release more projects throughout this year

Royal and Showbiz reporter Kinsey Schofield claims that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have "villainised" the Royal Family, as the rift between the monarchy and the royal couple continues.

The Sussexes have entered the new year having spent their fifth consecutive Christmas away from the Royal Family.

The royal couple reportedly turned down an invitation to Sandringham by King Charles, after claiming they would "love" to spend Christmas with Prince Harry's family.

Since stepping down as working royals in 2020, the couple have continued to drift further from the monarchy, making several controversial claims about them, including in a Netflix documentary released last year.

In January this year, Prince Harry released his tell-all memoir, Spare, which became the fastest selling non-fiction book of all time.

To end a turbulent year for the Sussexes, Omid Scobie released his second biography Endgame, which added more allegations against the Royal Family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have remained silent on any possible involvement in the book, and both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace have refused to respond to any claims made by Scobie.

The couple have also hinted at some new major projects for this year ahead, as Meghan Markle revealed at a Variety red carpet that they have "many projects" in the pipeline.

Speaking to GB News, reporter Kinsey Schofield claimed that the recent backlash towards the monarchy's recent visits to other countries may have been "related" to Meghan and Harry's media pursuits.

Schofield revealed: "I think that Harry and Meghan villainised the Royal Family. So you might be a little more apt to grab a poster board and go protest these people, because you're seeing on the news, you're seeing on television and you're reading in magazines that these people are racist in some way, according to Harry and Meghan's Oprah Winfrey interview.

"I do feel like it's a roller coaster. Sometimes more people are going to turn up to protest you, sometimes people are going to have a a bad attitude about you.

"Would they be gentler today? I think so."

Schofield then shared her thoughts on the Prince and Princess of Wales, who have cemented their roles as key senior royals since the Sussexes exit in 2020, and even more so since King Charles took to the throne in 2022.

Schofield admitted: "I think it's the King's time to shine. And the only reason we'd see William and Catherine put themselves out there like that is if he needs backup.

"They have very specific missions that you and I could say off the top of our head, Catherine, it's the early years, Prince William, it's homelessness and it's climate with his awards show.

"So I think that they've done a really good job of making sure that the world knows what their mission is and we see it reflected in their lifestyle."
