Prince Harry could reunite with King Charles for the first time in months, as the duke heads to London.

The Duke of Sussex will fly to London to present an award and deliver a speech at the WellChild Awards, which honours seriously ill children.

He will meet with the young recipients of the various awards on September 30, where he will personally present the gong for inspirational child aged four to six.

During his trip, Harry will be staying in accommodation close to Buckingham Palace, according to a source.

Whilst Harry, who celebrated his 40th birthday last week, has opted not to stay in a royal residence, a reunion with his father could still be on the cards.

A source told the Express: “It has not yet been decided if the King will go to London for a meeting with his doctors and possibly his son, or whether he will head straight to Highgrove.

“There are currently discussions ongoing about finding a mutually agreeable place in the diary.”

The monarch will be in Scotland on September 28 to speak at Holyrood’s 25th anniversary celebrations, and whilst it has not been specified what he will do after this, the source has stated that he will then “head south”.

“The King is due to head to London in late September,” said the source.

The pair last saw each other in February when Charles was diagnosed with cancer and the duke jetted over from California to see him, but he was given just over 45 minutes with the King.

There has been speculation that Harry, who has already visited the UK three times this year, wants a fresh start with his family back in the UK, especially in light of his father’s cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Insiders have claimed that Harry is considering turning to trusted allies to help ease his return, mapping out a “blueprint” for the timeline of his homecoming.

On Sunday, the Royal Family issued a surprise statement wishing Prince Harry a Happy Birthday, potentially heralding a thaw in frosty relations between the duke and his family.

The message read: "Wishing The Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday today!”, and was accompanied by an image of the King's youngest son grinning while on a public engagement.

Harry received no public well-wishing last year for his despite having ignored the occasion last year.

According to a new poll Prince Harry has seen a significant increase in public support for his potential return.

A survey by Ipsos reveals that a third of Britons would now back the Duke of Sussex's permanent return to official working royal life.
