Prince Harry's ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy has been forced to close her luxury travel company after accumulating significant debt.

The Zimbabwean-born businesswoman has applied to have Aya Luxury Travel struck off at Companies House, according to documents filed on Monday.

The company ended 2023 with just under £22,000 in unpaid debt, following several years of financial struggles.

The application means any remaining assets will be passed to the Crown unless there are objections to the dissolution.

Davy launched Aya Luxury Travel in 2020, aiming to organise bespoke African holidays for discerning clients.

Speaking to Spear's Magazine at the time, she outlined her ambitious vision: "I want to build this beautiful brand that does amazing things and works with amazing companies and showcases Africa in beautiful ways."

The venture was intended as an extension of her existing Aya jewellery business, drawing on her knowledge of Zambia and Cape Town.

She partnered with experienced safari leader Brigitte Walsh, who had over two decades of industry experience.

However, the company faced immediate challenges as the travel industry was hit by worldwide Covid-19 lockdowns.

By the end of 2020, Aya Luxury Travel had accumulated debts of £91,000.

The business continued to struggle through repeated lockdowns in 2021, despite Davy's hopes for future bookings.

The company has not traded or sold any stock in the last three months, though Davy continues to operate her related jewellery brand Aya.

In an interview during the autumn of 2020, Davy acknowledged the company's difficulties, stating: "I'm not going to lie [it] hasn't gone swimmingly so far."

She remained hopeful about bookings for the following year, though these were impacted by further lockdowns in 2021.

GB News has contacted Davy to comment on her business closure.

She will now focus on her jewellery business, which she established in 2016 after studying at the Gemological Institute of America.
