Prince Harry said his legal battles with the media were a 'central piece' to his rift with the Royal Family

Prince Harry has been slammed for "acting like a hero" in his latest documentary appearance, as the royal vowed to "get justice for everybody" involved in legal battles with tabloid newspapers.

The documentary, airing on ITV, details the Duke's victory against Mirror Group Newspapers in December 2023, which ruled that Prince Harry’s voicemails "had been intercepted" and private information was "unlawfully obtained" by the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and The People.

Speaking in the documentary, Harry claimed the ruling was "monumental victory", but the ordeal of the phone hacking had caused him "paranoia, fear and distrust".

As he continues two other civil cases against tabloid newspapers, Harry told ITV that his late mother Princess Diana "motivates him", as she was "painting as being paranoid" during her time of being targeted by the press.

Discussing the latest revelations from the prince, commentator Carole Malone accused the duke of "acting like a hero" and "pretending he's taking on the tabloids single-handedly".

Malone fumed: "You have to wonder when this petulant man child is ever going to take responsibility for what he has done.

"He just tries to rewrite history all the time. I worry about him sometimes because I think he forgets what he has done, or he does realise what he's done and he can't face it.

"So he pretends now he's some kind of hero, single handedly taking on the tabloid press."

Reacting to Harry's further claims that his battles with the tabloids were "a central piece" in the breakdown of his relationship with his family, Malone was in disbelief, arguing that it is "not because of the tabloids at all".

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Malone told GB News: "The rift within the Royal Family is not because he took on the tabloids. It's because he sat on the world stage, him and his wife, and they branded the Royal Family racist.

"He denigrated his own father, the Queen, the was very derogatory about Kate. So that's why they have a rift in the family."

In disagreement with Malone, host Miriam Cates argued that the press have "acted appallingly" towards Prince Harry throughout his life.

Malone hit back, raging: "They have not behaved appallingly throughout the whole of Harry's life. After Diana's death, the tabloid press changed - they were forced to change, they had to change. And quite rightly, they did change."

Highlighting Prince Harry's mention of his late mother in the documentary, Malone argued that the duke "blames the press for his mother's death".

Malone stated: "He has always hated them because he blames the tabloid press for his mother's death, not a drunk driver in a car in Paris, which was the reason for his mother's death."

Offering her verdict on Prince Harry's interview, commentator Judita Da Silva hit back at Malone: "He doesn't singularly blame them for it, it's compounded a relationship that broke down within his family, and they do have an attributable responsibility for what happened.

"You put people that aren't designed to withstand that kind of pressure under a pressure that no human being could withstand, and we saw what happened. It's kind of the markers of trauma."
