Prince George is the second in line to the throne, behind his father Prince William

Prince George could face difficult changes when he becomes King while Princess Kate has "identified" the "most important role" in her son's life, a royal commentator has said.

Robert Jobson told GB News' The Royal Record that he believes the "level of deference to the Royal Family" could deteriorate by time Prince George becomes King.

But despite the challenges ahead, Princess Kate's role in "helping" and supporting the young Prince will aid the royal throughout his life.

Jobson told the Royal Editor of GBNews.com, Svar Nanan-Sen, and GB News's Royal Correspondent, Cameron Walker: "When Queen Elizabeth came to the throne, there was a sense that she was appointed - she'd got that role from God.

"It was a far more Christian and a different society to one that we live in today.

"There was certainly more class involved in terms of the middle class, the working class, it had more structured.

"And there was certainly a level of deference to the royal family and I don't think that deference is necessarily there is going to be there in 30 or 40 years time.

"Certainly the realms, quite possibly would have gone by that in terms of Australia and New Zealand, Canada.

"It will be a very different picture that George when he eventually, if he if he does get to become king, will inherit.

"I think that's why it's so important that his mother, is there to help him. And I think she's identified that as possibly one of her, if not the most important role that she has."

The royal commentator explained how vital Kate's family were in helping the Princess of Wales to adjust to royal life - something Jobson believes she will continue doing with George.

He said: "Catherine, to start with, I think she's somebody that is a real go-getter. She seems to rise to every challenge that's been put in front of her.

"And of course, having a stable and loving family is very important. I mean, when she was at university, her dad used to send the clippings from newspapers, things that she could read - this is the family that really care about each other.

"You've got two pretty grounded, parents, pretty grounded siblings and siblings that have been through trouble.

"James is suffering his own depression and and coming through it the other side, so I do think that she's had to deal with real life issues, and that really does make a difference.

"Just William and Harry have had to live out their lives in the drama and the glare of publicity, and that's difficult.

"But the real life problem for them is not how much money is in the bank. William now is generating £25million every single year from the Duchy of Cornwall.

"He's never had to worry about the mortgage payments, so this is the sort of issues that I think the Government will bring to the table when it comes to their time on the throne."
