The Prince and Princess of Monaco reached out to the King following his health scare

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco have sent their "full support" to King Charles after his health scare.

The Prince of Monaco has become the first European monarch to send his good wishes to the British monarch since Buckingham Palace announced his cancer diagnosis.

In a statement, Albert said: "Your Majesty, In these difficult times, my family would like to express to you our full support.

"Your determination, courage and openness have always been a source of inspiration.

"I am convinced that you will show the same bravery throughout this challenge.

"My family and the people of Monaco join me in sending you, the Royal Family and your loved ones our warmest thoughts and prayers."

Although Albert was the first European monarch to wish Charles well, he was not the first European member of a Royal Family to do so.

Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia released a message following King Charles’s cancer diagnosis.

He said: "Deeply concerned by the condition which most unfortunately, affected my dear cousin and friend, HM King Charles III, and moved by his courage, despite the disease, sharing his personal health condition with his people, I am sending the following message of support, but also of understanding and compassion."

The Crown Prince added in the message that he was diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer last December.

However, after receiving treatment, Crown Prince Alexander has defeated it and "all is clear now" according to his doctors.

On Monday, Buckingham Palace released the following statement: "During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties.

"Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.

"The King is grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure. He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.

"His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer."
