Meghan Markle's wedding dress was savagely branded "too white" by the late Queen Elizabeth II, according to a royal author.
The Duchess of Sussex wore a Givenchy wedding gown, designed by their artistic director Clare Waight Keller, to marry Prince Harry on May 19, 2018.
In a nod to the Commonwealth, Meghan's veil was embroidered with flowers representing each country.
The veil also featured a California poppy, in honour of the duchess's home state of California.

In addition, Meghan, 42, embroidered a wintersweet into her veil, a flower that grows at Kensington Palace.
This was where she and the Duke of Sussex were living at the time, a sweet nod to their future lives as working royals in the UK.
However, the late Queen Elizabeth II did not approve of Meghan's wedding attire, a royal author has claimed.
Ingrid Seward's new book, My Mother And I, explores the relationship between King Charles III and his late mother.

In the new book, Seward describes how one of the late monarch's closest confidantes, Lady Elizabeth Anson, told the commentator that Queen Elizabeth thought Meghan's wedding dress was "too white".
In the late sovereign's view, it was inappropriate for a divorcee to get remarried in a church and wear a traditionally white dress.
The late Queen was also uncomfortable, Seward claims, with the current King's decision to stand in for Meghan’s father Thomas Markle and walk her down the aisle.
The author also implied that Queen Elizabeth II was concerned about her husband Prince Philip, then 96, deciding to walk down the aisle at St George's Chapel without a stick, as he had just had a hip replacement five weeks before.

There were many standout moments from the Sussex wedding, including the sermon from American Archbishop Michael Curry, who spoke for 14 minutes.
According to Seward, the late Queen and Duke of Edinburgh did not like long sermons, so were "desperate for him to finish".
The new book, My Mother and I, by Ingrid Seward will be published on February 15.
