The Duchess of Sussex is not on speaking terms with her father

Meghan Markle's father Thomas Markle has taken a fresh swipe at his daughter and Prince Harry.

Thomas Markle has questioned the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's silence surrounding the naming row.

King Charles and Kate, Princess of Wales were named as the royals who allegedly "had concerns" regarding how dark Prince Archie's skin colour would be when he was born in the Dutch version of Omid Scobie's book Endgame.

Scobie is a royal author who claims to have sources close to the Sussexes but has refuted claims that he has a friendship with Meghan and Harry.

The royals were named in the Dutch version of the book due to an error and thousands of copies of Endgame have been pulled from shelves across the Netherlands.

Meghan and Harry have not made a public statement on the matter since the King and Kate were named last week.

Thomas Markle has branded this move "unusual".

He told the Mail: "The fact that Harry and Meghan have not publicly distanced themselves from this strikes me as unusual."

Sources close to Meghan Markle, who named the pair in a letter she wrote to the King, have insisted the Duchess of Sussex never intended to publicly identify them and that no one in her camp leaked the information to Scobie.

The Duchess of Sussex claimed in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 that there were "concerns and conversations" within the Royal Family about how dark Prince Archie's skin might be when he was born.

Meghan said during the interview when outlining her decision not to name the members of the Royal Family: "I think that would be very damaging to them."

The Royal Family issued a response to Meghan Markle's interview two days after it aired in March 2021.

The statement said: "The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately."

It added: "Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members."
