Meghan Markle and Prince Harry "don't understand why rules are different" for Sarah Ferguson, a royal commentator has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from royal duties in 2020, 18 years after the Duchess of York did the same thing.

Since divorcing Prince Andrew in 1996, Fergie has written several books and promoted them in many interviews.

Royal commentator Neil Sean claimed that Harry and Meghan do not understand why "rules are different" for them as opposed to the Duchess of York.

In January 2023, the Duke of Sussex released his bombshell memoir Spare, in which he spoke heavily about the Royal Family.

To promote the book, Harry sat down for several interviews where he referred to his stepmother Queen Camilla as a "villain" and spoke about his ongoing feud with the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Similarly, Meghan published The Bench in 2021, where she appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show as well as other programmes to promote the book.

The Duchess of Sussex also made a return to acting recently by appearing in an advert for a coffee brand called Clevr Blends.

According to Sean, the Sussexes want "answers" from King Charles about why they have to follow "different rules" from other former royals.

Sean said on his YouTube channel: "Meghan Markle wants some answers from His Majesty the King.

"She tried to set up a meeting with him, she sent him a letter and wanted a one-to-one to explain exactly the problems she's encountered ever since becoming a member of the British monarchy.

He added: "The thing that really riles Meghan is that Fergie pops up on things like the ITV daytime show This Morning, Loose Women and billing herself as the Duchess of York, selling books and possibly doing adverts all under the Royal Family.

"Meghan and Harry seemingly don't understand why it's a different rule for her."

Since stepping down as working royals, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have become financially independent through lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify.

The deal with Spotify has since fallen through after Meghan only produced one podcast series titled Archetypes.

They also signed a four-book deal with the publisher Penguin Random House.
