The Duchess should forsake her title as her next career move, a branding expert has said

The Duchess of Sussex should forgo her Royal titles and instead rebrand herself like the Beckhams, a branding expert has said.

Meghan’s next career move has been up for speculation after her Spotify deal was cancelled earlier this year.

Her husband Harry has been busy with solo projects, such as his Netflix documentary ‘Heart of Invictus’, which aired last month, and attending to his veterans sporting event, the Invictus Games.

Pauline Maclaran, Professor of Marketing and Consumer Research at Royal Holloway said that a wise move for Meghan would be to forsake her royal title.

“[Meghan and Harry] should try and leave the royal image behind altogether. It doesn't do them any favours.

“To retain their titles doesn't sit well with a lot of people, especially in the US where their royal titles mean nothing to people. They represent a hierarchy the US has left behind.”

She believes that instead, the pair should rebrand themselves as a famous couple, like the Beckhams.

“I don't think we've seen the end of Meghan and Harry as a brand. There's no reason why they can't have a joint brand strategy,” she told The Express.

“If you look at a very famous couple, the Beckhams, Victoria has her own company. She is seen as a top, female entrepreneur. David Beckham has football. But then they come together as the Beckham family.

“They do come together as well. Even though they have their own separate brands. I don't see why Harry and Meghan can't do something like that.”

Maclaran said it would be smart for the Sussexes to rebrand themselves as an A-list couple, without any public links to the royals.

She believed they could structure their image around their Archwell Foundation, as well as being campaigners for different humanitarian causes.

Meghan and Harry reportedly feuded with the Beckhams earlier this year.

The couples used to be close, as David and Victoria attended their 2018 wedding.

However, relations reportedly turned sour when the Duchess of Sussex allegedly accused the A-listers of leaking stories of them to the press.

The former footballer was said to have been “absolutely furious” about the claim.
