Tyler Perry, godfather to Princess Lilibet, has given a blunt response when asked about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The 55-year-old, who provided refuge to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during their transition to America in 2020, offered frank responses about the couple's move to the US.

Perry, who allowed the couple to stay at one of his properties when they first relocated from the UK, shared his observations about the ongoing fascination with the Sussexes.

When asked how he prepared the couple for their move to America, Perry's responsed: "I didn't."

He explained his straightforward answer, stating: "Meghan is from California. She knows California well. So there was nothing to prepare them for."

He went on to reflect on the media's response to any mention of the couple in interviews.

"What I learnt about mentioning them - because there's this insatiable appetite to know all about them - is that any question that is asked becomes the headline of anything I say," Perry told the Sunday Times.

When questioned about the 'appetite' for stories about the Sussexes, Perry turned the question back to the interviewer, responding: "You're from the UK, you tell me."

When quizzed about whether the appetite is as prevalent in the US, Perry maintained his distance from the topic.

"You think? Well, you would know better than I would because I'm not paying attention to that world," he told the newspaper.

His responses showed a reluctance to be drawn into discussions about Harry and Meghan.

Perry's support for the couple came at a crucial moment in 2020, when they faced security concerns during their transition from Canada after stepping down as working royals.

Prince Harry told Oprah: "While we were in Canada, in someone else's house, I then got told, short notice, that security was going to be removed."

The couple had no concrete plans at the time, as Meghan explained: "We didn't have a plan, and we needed a house, and he offered security as well, so it gave us breathing room to try to figure out what we were going to do."
