Lady Louise Windsor has opted to follow Queen Elizabeth II’s footsteps in a rare royal move, according to new claims.
Svar Nanan-Sen, GB News's Digital Royal Editor, and Cameron Walker, the Royal Correspondent, discussed Lady Louise's new move on this week's episode of The Royal Record podcast.
Prince Edward's daughter is thought to be keen on a career in the military, as she is a member of the Officers’ Training Corps at the University of St Andrews, where she is currently studying English.
If Louise, 20, joins the military, she would be the first female royal to serve her country since Queen Elizabeth II in World War Two.
Louise's female cousins, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall, all embarked on normal careers as opposed to becoming a working royal or joining the military.
During the podcast, Svar said: "It's really interesting, and it's also a very different path to what we've seen her cousins take.
"Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice and Zara Tindall, none of them took up roles in the military.
"So if Lady Louise does go down that route, it's quite different. If anything, it's similar to the late Queen, in terms of her roles in the military."
Cameron Walker discussed how Lady Louise is following in the footsteps of her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II

Cameron added: "Yes, the late Queen was a junior commander in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War Two. Lots of mechanics and stuff to do with cars.
"She would be, Lady Louise, the first female member of the Royal Family to serve in the armed forces since the late Queen, 80 years since World War Two, which is astonishing really.
"Lady Louise's father served very briefly in the Royal Marines. He trained with them for four months or so in the 1980s before giving it up.
"But I suppose with the Army comes a sense of duty, and with the Royal Family comes a sense of duty.
"We know Lady Louise certainly takes after her grandparents with carriage riding. Her late grandfather, Prince Philip, was keen on that.
"Lady Louise, we believe, took over his carriages, she's been riding in certain competitions and perhaps this is just going to be another string to her bow.
"But she may, of course, decide to go down the diplomacy or law routes.
"But she certainly seems to, according to her friends who've spoken to The Sun, be very much enjoying her army cadets training at St Andrew's, going out and about."
LATEST ROYAL NEWS:
A source told The Sun that "she talks about being very keen on a career in the military, serving King and country.
"She is all about the Army Cadets and has fallen in love with it."
As part of her training, Louise will be undertaking Reserve Officer modules designed to fit around her degree, which will instruct her in everything from how to wear a uniform correctly, to leading others in stressful situations.
