King Charles emphasised rhe need for "tolerance" in a keynote speech tonight, amid rising tensions in the Middle East and mass protests in London regarding the Israel-Hamas war.
King Charles called the UK a “community of communities” in his speech, where he called for unity amid increasing tensions over the war in Israel.
The monarch warned that “the temptation to turn ourselves into a shouting or recriminatory society must be resisted”.
He also encouraged people to be “passionate, but not pugnacious”.
The monarch sought to calm tensions following violent protests over the bombing of a hospital in Gaza.
King Charles urged for “civility and tolerance” as well as “mutual understanding”.
He added: “Such understanding, both at home and overseas, is never more vital than at times of international turmoil and heartbreaking loss of life.”

Charles's call for tolerance comes after a rise in antisemitism and mass protests over the Israel-Hamas war.
There has also been a warning from MI5 that the war between Israel and Palestine risks exporting violence to the UK.
