Queen Camilla visited the King at hospital earlier today

King Charles has left the London Clinic alongside Queen Camilla after spending three nights in the hospital.

The King smiled and waved as he left the hospital after undergoing an operation to treat an enlarged prostate.


Queen Camilla visited her husband four times since he was admitted to the hospital on Friday.

The Queen arrived via a side entrance to the clinic today at around 2:10pm before leaving alongside the King at 3pm.

The King was admitted to the same hospital that treated the Princess of Wales on Friday.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the King will be returning home to rest in a statement.

They said: "The King was this afternoon discharged from hospital following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation.

"His Majesty would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days."

The road had been cleared but a large crowd of children and onlookers gathered to watch as the King and Queen got into a waiting car.

It comes as Kensington Palace provided an update on Princess Kate's health after she returned home from the London Clinic.

Kate had been recovering at the hospital following her operation on January 16.

Kensington Palace said: "The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.

The Princess of Wales is not expected to undertake any working duties until after Easter.

"The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided.

"The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world."

The King visited the Princess of Wales at the hospital before undergoing his operation.

The Princess of Wales is not expected to undertake any working duties until after Easter.
