The King had a reception at Buckingham Palace where he thanked those involved with his Coronation
King Charles made a hilarious gaffe when he spoke to TV host Clare Balding at a Buckingham Palace reception, not realising the major role she played during the Coronation.
Balding attended the reception because she was the person who led the commentary for the Coronation procession on the BBC.
King Charles made the gaffe when he asked the 52-year-old what role she played in the Coronation, without any prior knowledge.
Balding said: "There was no reason why they would know that because of course they weren’t watching the television.
"But he said they did manage to watch it afterwards."
Queen Camilla also attended the reception and was seen chatting to Penny Mourdant, who received nationwide praise for carrying the eight-pound Sword of State at the Coronation.
Princess Anne, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh also joined the King and Queen at the Palace for Thursday's reception.

Speaking after the reception, Balding shared her own Coronation gaffe.
She told The Sun: "I managed to say - which is a perfectly acceptable horsey phrase - that the Princess Royal had been very quickly mounted, and joined the procession.
"I didn’t bat an eyelid at that. I didn’t even realise.
"When I got home, my partner Alice said, ‘You seem to have caused a bit of a stir!’

This gaffe was said to have had millions of viewers watching the coverage in stitches.
King Charles is due to take his first trip to the Commonwealth as monarch at the end of the month.
The King and Queen will travel to Kenya, which happens to be the country where the late Queen Elizabeth II found out she would become the sovereign in 1952.
