The future King and Queen have been "very impressive" according to a royal commentator
Princess Kate and Prince William's "tactic will pay dividends", according to a royal commentator, as the "US backs" the Waleses.
Since the release of Omid Scobie's book Endgame, the Prince and Princess of Wales have not issued any statement to refute the claims made by the royal author.
Gareth Russell, a royal commentator, spoke exclusively to GB News to explain how well the couple have handled any backlash they may have received as a result of the book.
He said: "The Waleses have been very impressive.
"Certainly, the coverage in the overseas media, including the American media is very favourable to the Prince and Princess of Wales at the moment.
"When they turned up with the Crown Princess of Sweden and her husband Prince Daniel at the Royal Variety Performance two days after Endgame broke for the press, you could tell from the audience's reaction there was a lot of support for them.
"But also the Prince and Princess of Wales seem very close, we saw them arriving holding hands, which is a gesture of affection and support.
"Broadly speaking, it has been a dignified response.
Kate and William have been covered very positively in US media
PA"They don't seem to be getting involved in a tit-for-tat with this."
The commentator gave some insight into whose technique the Waleses are following.
Russell added: "If you look at what example they're using, this was a technique that was pioneered very successfully over decades by the Queen Mother, Prince William's great-grandmother, that you just keep going.
"You put one foot in front of the other, you perform your duties and you don't get involved in any kind of insult-slinging in the press and the media.

"We're seeing William and Catherine sticking very much to what worked for various successful royals like Queen Elizabeth II and her mother.
"So this is a more conservative approach. It's not a sensationalist approach.
"It's an extremely sensible tactic from the Prince and Princess of Wales that will pay dividends in the long run with them. Absolutely."
