The prince did officially enrol at the university in the name William Wales

Prince William was using a fake name at the university where he met his wife Princess Kate.

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended St Andrews University in Scotland.


An agreement was in place that allowed William to go about his studies in Scotland without constant media attention.

However, the royal reportedly took a further step to avoid hassle at university.

The prince officially enrolled at the university in the name William Wales. However, he decided to go by a different name while a student.

The Prince of Wales picked the moniker Steve, according to the Daily Mirror.

Princess Kate may have called Prince William the nickname as they were close friends and lived in the same accommodation at university.

Kate and William got married in April 2011 at Westminster Abbey.

The couple has three children together, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
