The Princess of Wales made just her second public appearance of 2024 today

Princess Kate has issued a new statement after she returned to royal duties with an appearance at Wimbledon.

The Princess of Wales has been the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club since 2016.


Kate normally presents the trophies to the men's and women's singles winners at the tennis tournament.

The royal attended the men's singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic today alongside her daughter Princess Charlotte and her sister Pippa Matthews.

Princess Kate received a standing ovation from a packed Wimbledon crowd upon her arrival in the Royal Box.

During the engagement, the royal issued a statement on social media outlining her joy at being back.

Kate wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Great to be back at @Wimbledon!

"There's nothing quite like The Championships."

The royal was joined by Pippa Matthews in a rare public appearance from her younger sister.

Pippa had only stepped out at a public event once since Princess Kate announced she had been diagnosed with cancer in March.

That appearance came just two days ago also at Wimbledon.

Princess Charlotte, 9, sat in between Pippa and Kate as they watched action unfold from the Royal Box.

On Saturday, Kensington Palace confirmed that the royal would attend the men's singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.

Kate missed Saturday's women's singles final between Barbora Krejčíková and Jasmine Paolini.
