The Princess of Wales presented the Wimbledon men's singles runner-up trophy to the Serbian tennis star on Sunday

Wimbledon runner-up Novak Djokovic has provided a health update on the Princess of Wales after speaking with the royal on Sunday afternoon.

Djokovic suffered a bruising 6-2 6-2 7-6 straight sets defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in front of a parked Wimbledon crowd on Centre Court.


Kate has been the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club since 2016 and normally presents the trophies to the men's and women's singles winners at the tennis tournament.

The Princess of Wales awarded Alcaraz the trophy for the second year in a row after he made it to back-to-back Wimbledon titles.

As the Spaniard approached the royal he paused and bowed his head in a touching moment of respect.

The Princess of Wales also exchanged some kind words with runner-up Djokovic who suffered defeat in the final at the hands of Alcaraz for the second year running.

The Serbian provided a rare insight into Kate's health following his conversation with the royal.

Djokovic said: "Yes, it was of course a privilege to be in her presence again."

The Princess of Wales also exchanged some kind words with runner-up Djokovic who suffered defeat in the final at the hands of Alcaraz for the second year running.

He added: "I've said to her that it is very nice to see her in good health. She seems to be in good health.

"I know that she and her sister have played tennis for a very long time.

"So they truly respect, admire the game. They also understand tennis, which is great.

"It's wonderful to have that kind of support from the Royal Family."

During the engagement, the royal issued a statement on social media outlining her joy at being back.

Kate wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Great to be back at @Wimbledon! There's nothing quite like The Championships."
