Fergie also revealed how she was 'so moved' by Kate's emotional video

Sarah Ferguson has issued a fresh update on the Princess of Wales in a new interview on Thursday.

The Duchess of York, 64, stepped out on ITV This Morning to discuss the launch of her latest children's book, Flora and Fern: Wonder in the Woods.

But the on-air discussion then shifted to Sarah's own health struggles.

The duchess was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer, earlier this year - and has since embarked on a drive to push the public to get checked up.

Though, as host Ben Shephard noted, Sarah wasn't the only royal to have endured a cancer battle this year.

He said: "I think the other thing, Sarah, that has been really tangible is seeing Princess Kate going through what she's going through and seeing her being so public... and the King, of course!"

The Duchess of York replied: "The video that the princess did was just incredible. I mean, I was so moved."

When asked how Kate was doing now, Sarah answered: "She's just showing the world what it is to really look after yourself and self-love in order to help others.

"I think that's extraordinary what she's doing," she added.

Sarah was of course referring to Princess Kate's poignant video announcing she had finished her course of chemotherapy last month.

Though the princess has won plaudits from Sarah before - the 64-year-old has hailed how Kate raising awareness would do a "tremendous amount of good" - her moving September clip received near-universal acclaim.

Back then, Kate told followers she was entering "this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life".

She continued: "The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family.

"Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long."

The princess said she was "looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months" - but counselled how her focus was "doing what I can to stay cancer-free".
