Prince Louis's attendance at Trooping the Colour delighted royal fans

Princess Kate lovingly fixed Prince Louis's tie at Trooping the Colour today in an adorable moment caught on camera.

The Princess of Wales made the adjustment to her youngest son's outfit as they sat waiting to return to Buckingham Palace.

Climbing into the a horse-drawn carriage, Kate urged Louis to sit upright before then tightening his tie.

Louis's attendance at Trooping the Colour delighted royal fans, with appearances by the young royal still relatively rare.

With Louis just five-years-old, Kate and William have sought to protect their son from the media spotlight.

As he makes more and more appearances, royal watchers have become eager to see Louis's antics.

Stealing the show again today, the Prince was caught pulling faces on his way to Horse Guards Parade as he was left unimpressed by the smell of horse waste at the Mall.

He pinched his nose to help hide the smell of horse poop as he rode in a horse-drawn carriage alongside his siblings from Buckingham Palace.

Hundreds of horses took part in the event, leaving a trail of waste behind them.

The event featured around 1,500 soldiers in total and hundreds of Guardsmen were lined up on the parade ground waiting to be inspected by King.

For the first time in over 30 years, the monarch was also riding on horseback.

The sight of a monarch riding throughout Trooping the Colour had not happened since 1986 when the Queen rode her charger Burmese for the final time.

It was a gift from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and Charles’ horse Noble was also from the Commonwealth country’s famous Mounties.

Appearing to share Louis's disgust at the smell caused by the waste from the number of horses taking part in today's ceremony, gathered crowds cheered when two street sweepers made their way down the road after the procession to clean up the left behind mess.
