Princess Kate's parents have been targeted by a vile hate campaign in the area where the family has lived for decades.

Malicious messages were plastered on lamposts and trees in Carole and Michael Middleton's home village Bucklebury, Berkshire.

Some suppliers are still owed money following the closure of Party Pieces, the company sold by Kate's parents shortly before it went bust earlier this year.

A source told The Sun: "Carole and Michael are incredibly popular.

"Everyone is horrified by these posters. It’s unfair to do this in their home village, just yards from where they live.

“Their son James lives nearby and so does Pippa who has moved around there recently with her family so they all have to be confronted by this.

"They are doing their best to make things right and don’t deserve this kind of abuse."

The Princess of Wales's James Middleton, who lives nearby, is said to have been enraged by the posters and was seen tearing them down, according to the Mail.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Kate's parents "harboured concerns" regarding Meghan Markle attending their daughter Pippa's wedding.

Pippa "initially declined" to invite Meghan to her wedding to James Matthews in 2017.

However, Pippa chose to invite Meghan to the evening reception to "keep the peace".

Kate and Prince William "took exception" to the Sussexes moving their name places at the table after Pippa had organised for no couple to sit next to each other.

The Telegraph reported that Kate and Pippa's parents "privately harboured concerns that the American actress' presence alongside Harry might overshadow the main event".

The relationship between Princess Kate and Meghan Markle has since broken down with the royals no longer on speaking terms.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made multiple public digs at the Princess of Wales in TV interviews since they stepped down as working members of the Royal Family in 2020.
