Princess Kate goes inside England's dressing room despite Prince William and Prince George's awkward moment

England won the fiercely competitive match 30-24 to set up a semi-final clash with South Africa.

The reigning World Cup champions knocked out host France in a pulsating 29-28 contest.

The Princess of Wales's appearance in the England dressing room after their victory follows Prince William's decision to go into the Wales dressing room after their quarter-final defeat to Argentina.

The Prince of Wales and his son watched Wales lose 17-29 as they crashed out of the World Cup.

Welsh rugby union player Dan Bigger admitted that the encounter with the royals was slightly awkward after the match.

Biggar wrote for his column in the Mail: "It was a quiet changing room.

"Prince William and George came in and that wasn’t the easiest gig they’ll get.

"No one had much to say."

However, Princess Kate's appearance at England's Rugby World Cup quarter-final was hailed by royal fans.

The royal is the patron of the Rugby Football Union, a role she took over from Prince Harry after he stepped down from the monarchy.

One wrote: "Princess of Wales looks lovely."

Another said: "Royals are always there to support."

The official Rugby World Cup page shared a picture of Kate at the match with the caption: "Nice to see some royal support in Marseille."
