The Crown Princess of Norway’s son has been arrested following a “serious incident” which left a woman in hospital.
Marius Borg Høiby, 27, has spent more than 30 hours in prison after a woman in her 20s claimed that the 27-year old attacked her both “psychologically and physically” in her Oslo apartment.
The woman was taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with a concussion before being released in the early hours of Monday morning.
Høiby, the stepson of heir to the throne Crown Prince Haakon, has since been released after a blood test for drugs was taken to find out if he was under the influence of drugs.
According to Se og Hør, a Norwegian publication, Høiby was initially charged with “bodily violation” and has now also been charged with “damage”, after police entered the apartment in Frogner and discovered it destroyed.
Trond Norén Isaksen, a historian, said it was the first time a member of the Norwegian royal family has been charged with a crime.
Police told the publication: “A person was arrested and charged with assault and later released from custody.”

The 27-year-old is the oldest child of Mette-Marit, 50, who was a single mother until she met Haakon in 1999 via mutual friends.
Crown Prince Haakon, 51, is the son of King Harald and Queen Sonja and is the heir to the Norwegian throne.
Høiby is now understood to be at the royal estate with his mother, who cancelled her trip to the Olympics to stay with her son.
The 51-year-old heir apparent, who has raised Høiby since he was a toddler, attended the athletics in Paris and equestrian events at Versailles alone.

“The Crown Princess has temporarily postponed her departure and hopes to travel down later,” a spokesman said.
Oyvind Bratlien, the 27-year-old’s lawyer, said: “It is important that the process is allowed to take its course in the right way, and that the media respects my client’s need for privacy and tranquillity.
“The charge concerns bodily harm, which according to the law is the least serious form of violence. Neither my client nor I have been made aware of the full content of the case, nor has he explained himself yet, on my advice.”
The police's security service (PST), which is responsible for the security of the Norwegian royal family, confirmed to local media that they are aware of the incident.
