Republican Representative Victoria Spartz has slammed Washington’s establishment and mounted pressure on Kevin McCarthy as other members move to oust the House Speaker.

Spartz, 44, sat down with GB News to discuss the issues facing Capitol Hill.

She said: “Washington DC has had this problem for a while now. We don’t have tough people willing to fight the fight and deliver for the people … You saw how difficult it was for Donald Trump to try to challenge the status quo.

“And he was dragged through mud, through hell, whether people loved him or hate him, what they were doing to him wasn’t acceptable.

“Using the Government to take down a candidate and take down a President was wrong. This is what totalitarian countries and tyrannies are doing.”

Spartz, who is mulling over whether to leave Congress, added: “We have a lot of people who either give up or live with the status quo because they want to have a picture on the wall.

“It’s one thing to fight for issues and another thing to fight to have your picture on the wall.

“Unfortunately, we haven’t had leaders for a long time in Congress who are willing to fight the fight for the people.”

Spartz, who joined the House of Representatives in 2021, was particularly scathing about McCarthy.

McCarthy, 58, is facing a rarely used motion to oust him from the House chair.

Republican rebel Matt Gaetz filed the motion after being frustrated about an “secret deal” that McCarthy allegedly struck with the Democrats.

However, McCarthy is confident he can hold on to his position, saying: “Bring it on.”

But Spartz seemed to brand McCarthy as being apart of the Washington establishment.

“We’ve just been downgraded, our credit rating, because we are not willing to have a discussion,” she explained.

“People are afraid even to talk, that’s how weak people here in Washington DC, how corrupt. They’re afraid even to talk about anything.”

Spartz added: “We don’t have leaders. We have a lot of people here who are part of a machine. They’ve never had a real job.

“They’ve never lived around real people. They live in Washington DC and they want to be here forever.”

The 44-year-old argued issues surrounding national debt and illegal immigration constituted crises and could be blamed on Washington's leadership.

“It’s very unfortunate that under Republican leadership in the House, we increased the amount of unauthorised spending," she said.

However, Spartz also suggested a failure in foreign policy could be blamed on leadership.

The Ukrainian-born Representative added: “I think, unfortunately, President Biden failed Ukraine, failed the American people and failed world security.”
