Polls show the former UN ambassador is trailing by nearly 30 points in South Carolina

Nikki Haley is "embarrassed" and "humiliated in her home state" the Former White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley has claimed, after polls revealed that Donald Trump is likely to secure another victory in South Carolina.

It comes as former President Donald Trump is expected to trounce Nikki Haley in South Carolina’s Republican presidential primary later today, but the ex-United Nations ambassador insists it won’t be a knockout punch.

The former president soundly defeated Haley in the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary. They competed in separate contests in Nevada. Trump won the caucus while voters in the state's primary picked "none of these candidates" over Haley.

Yet, Haley vowed Tuesday that she’s “not going anywhere” after the South Carolina primary.

“I'm campaigning every day until the last person votes,” she said, arguing that too few voters have had an opportunity to cast their ballots.

Former White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley said: "There's a difference between being embarrassed and being humiliated. Nikki was embarrassed in Iowa, embarrassed in New Hampshire.

"She was humiliated by an open box. That said, none of the above in Nevada. And now we head to South Carolina, her home state where she's down by 30 plus points and a lot of the polling.

"I got to tell you, I worked for Donald Trump for four years in the White House on the campaign. I know him very well.

"He faced some of the most difficult challenges, not just from the three letter agencies and the deep state and the federal government going after him, but with domestic policy, with foreign policy.

"He succeeded in all of those ways. But I'm also a 20-year resident of South Carolina, so I know Nikki as well. I was Executive Director of the South Carolina Republican Party back when she was just a legislator.

"I know this situation, how it works and I know who can do the job and who can't and it's clearly Donald Trump."

He added: "I think it's going to be a really big night for Donald Trump tomorrow night.

"I'm looking forward to a solid, significant victory, and I think he's going to deliver it.
