Speaking to GB News, political commentator and strategist Scottie Nell-Hughes claimed that there is "no one backing General Kelly's comments", and that Kelly has been "extremely bitter" since departing from the Trump administration and the White House.
Nell-Hughes explained: "They're deeply strange comments, but Kelly was not a very popular man in Trump's administration, and he let him go. And from the moment that Kelly left the White House, he's been extremely bitter, like most former Trump employees.
"And so, once again, we're finding that the Democrats are pulling a tool out of their old playbook to try to align Donald Trump with Hitler."
Noting the timing of the resurfaced comments so close to election day, Nell-Hughes told GB News that the Democrats are using a tactic they've pulled "for several years".

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
"And in this case, there's no actual facts to back it up, except for one bitter former employee that was let go by Trump because of the way he failed to serve him in his administration."
When asked by host Tom Harwood if US voters are "listening to the Democrats" in their attacks against Trump, Nell-Hughes claimed there is "not a single American that hasn't made their mind up" about who to vote for in less than two weeks.
Nell-Hughes added: "At this point, there's not a single American that does not have their mind made up as to who they're going to vote for. And this is why early voting has been so overwhelming in some of the key red states.
"We're seeing the Democrats trying to keep Republicans from going to vote, from keeping them engaged, telling them it's not worth them voting, that they don't want to put their support behind this man."

Hitting out at Harris and the Democrats campaign, Nell-Hughes fumed: "It is absolutely hypocritical of the Democrats to compare Donald Trump or any Republican to what we saw from Hitler and his regime.
"The Democrats are the ones that are using the government to impose their type of will on businesses, on the people.
"That's exactly what fascism is. That's what Hitler did."
In the latest polling conducted by FiveThirtyEight, Trump is less than two per cent behind Harris with just two weeks until US voters take to the ballot box.
Kamala Harris is currently ranking at 48.1 per cent among US voters, with Trump slightly trailing behind with 46.4 per cent of the vote.
