Joe Biden's supporters including media outlets have "flipped" on the US President after "covering for him" for several years, it has been claimed.

The leader of America went head to head with former President Donald Trump in a live CNN debate, where his performance was criticised by experts and voters.

In a poll conducted by CNN after the broadcast, almost 70 per cent of viewers agreed that Donald Trump was victorious in the debate.

Speaking to GB News, Republicans Overseas UK spokesman Greg Swenson claimed that Trump "without a doubt" won the debate, after watching Biden "self-destruct" on stage.

Analysing the head-to-head, Swenson explained: "President Biden just completely self-inflicted, wounded himself, it really was a disaster. And now the question is, what happens next?

"Even the media and inner circle Democrats last night were shaking their heads saying this is a problem."

When asked by host Dawn Neesom if Biden's performance in the debate has "changed the minds" of the Democrats and Biden supporters, Swenson agreed, claiming it "absolutely has".

He told GB News: "Just the reactions from CNN, New York Times and Van Jones, people that are real Biden supporters, have essentially flipped on him.

"It's an indictment of the party and the media for covering up for Biden for years now."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Criticising the Democrats and their protection of Joe Biden, Swenson hit out at the party's inner circle wanting to "keep the power" around the President, rather than offer another candidate.

Swenson fumed: "It's the power, the inner circle wanted to keep it around him. If another candidate had run and beat Biden, they'd bring in their own team. I think especially Dr Jill Biden, she should be ashamed of herself."

Host Stephen Dixon then argued that if the Democrats did nominate a new candidate, they would "give Trump something to worry about".

Swenson agreed, responding: "I've been saying this for two years. If they had chosen a different candidate, any other candidate or most other candidates would beat Trump.

"So the question is, in a panic at the end of the process, injecting someone in there might be difficult. It'll create some division in the party."

Highlighting Biden's health and his apparent decline in cognitive ability, Stephen claimed it is "so obvious" that the US leader is deteriorating.

Swenson agreed, adding: "The cognitive issues are so obvious, it's a shame that they did this to themselves, the Democrats.

"If they had just allowed the process, the nomination process to work, they wouldn't be in this situation. So it's really a shame. But again, I think it's more of an indictment on the party and the inner circle than it is on President Biden. It's very hard to give up power."
