The US President also referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as 'Vice President Trump'

The Democrats have been plunged into their "worst case scenario" following President Biden's latest gaffes at the Nato Summit, former adviser to the Clinton and Bush administration, Steve Gill, has claimed.

The 81-year-old US leader suffered more embarrassment during the gathering of world leaders in Washington, as Biden introduced Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky as Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In another slip up for the President, Biden also referred to his Vice President Kamala Harris as "Vice President Trump".

Reacting to the latest errors from Biden, former US adviser Steve Gill said the focus has been "too much on whether he remains a Democrat candidate", and not "if he should remain as President of the United States".

Speaking to hosts Stephen Dixon and Ellie Costello, Gill explained: "This was a slow motion train wreck for for Biden. It was the worst case scenario for the Democrats, because it wasn't a bad enough performance to remove him immediately.

"It wasn't good enough to allay fears, it was just enough to kind of keep things going."

Noting Biden's next upcoming public appearance, which will be an interview with broadcaster NBC, Gill warned that the "drama will continue" surrounding Biden's cognitive abilities.

Gill added: "He's got an interview Monday night with NBC's Lester Holt. So he's kind of slipped through to the weekend and it just keeps this drama continuing, which is not good for the Democrats and definitely not good for the country or for the world."

When asked by Ellie how he predicts Biden's team and the Democrats will be feeling following the latest blunders from the President, Gill questioned "how long they have known" that their leader is declining in cognitive health.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Gill said: "The real question is what have they known and how long have they known it? It was revealed today he hasn't had a meeting of his cabinet since last October, so they're keeping people away from him.

"Those closest to him are involved in the cover up."

Detailing the outcome of Vice President Kamala Harris replacing Biden, Gill claimed that she would be "asked the tough questions" about her knowledge of Biden's health behind the scenes.

Gill told GB News: "If Kamala Harris ends up being the Democrat nominee, she's going to be asked tough questions about how long she has known that Joe Biden couldn't function.

"I think Biden's been pretty adamant that he's staying in. Perhaps others could come to him and show him poll numbers that show him losing, but the poll numbers are showing him losing now.

"So I'm not sure if his staff isn't sharing them with him or what, but he did give a little glimmer that he might step aside if it's clear he will lose to Trump. But he's been pretty adamant that he is staying in."

When asked about the influence of celebrities such as George Clooney expressing their concern for Biden, Gill warned of a "domino effect" taking over ahead of the election.

Gill said: "The domino approach is he's losing fundraisers, and he's losing some of the Hollywood celebrities. He's starting to see more members of Congress and a couple of members of the Senate now say he needs to move aside.

"The problem again is, do they mean he needs to move aside as president? Because this is dangerous for us and it's dangerous for the world."
