Trump alleged Biden made it difficult for him to have adequate Secret Service protection at his rallies

Donald Trump has blamed the Biden-Harris administration for the assassination attempt against him, accusing the pair of leaving him vulnerable to attack.

In an interview with Dr. Phil, Trump said that their rhetoric and denial of security contributed to the incident.

"I think to a certain extent, it's Biden's fault and Harris' fault," Trump said of the attack.

He alleged that President Biden made it difficult for him to have adequate Secret Service protection at his rallies.

Trump also suggested that the administration's "nasty rhetoric" could have motivated potential assassins.

"Maybe that bullet is because of their rhetoric," he stated.

The FBI has contradicted Trump, claiming that the shooter had no clear motive or ideology.

Earlier this week FBI officials released new details about the assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania, last month.

Kevin Rojek, FBI special agent in charge of the Pittsburgh field office, stated that Trump appeared to be a "target of opportunity".

The shooter, Thomas Crooks, had "looked at any number of events and targets" before focusing on the Trump rally according to Rojek.

The FBI's investigation concluded that Crooks had searched online for both Republican and Democratic conventions.

Agents discovered a "mixture of ideologies" in Crooks' possessions, with no definitive left or right-leaning stance identified.

The assassination attempt occurred on July 13 at a Trump rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania.

Crooks opened fire on Trump from a nearby rooftop using an AR-15 assault rifle borrowed from his father.

Trump escaped but not without having suffered a bullet grazing his ear.

The US Secret Service has admitted to major security failings at the event.

The agency's director, Kimberly Cheatle, resigned in the aftermath as a result.

Trump's Secret Service protection has since been increased, and he now speaks from behind a bulletproof screen at outdoor rallies.

In his interview with Dr. Phil, Trump elaborated on his claims about the Biden administration's role in the incident.

"They were weaponising government against me. They brought in the whole DOJ to try and get me," Trump alleged.

"They weren't too interested in my health and safety."

The former President also criticised the rhetoric used against him, citing being called a "threat to democracy" as an example.

"That can get assassins or potential assassins going. That's a terrible thing," he said.
