Three assassination attempts have been made against Donald Trump this year

Donald Trump may have faced three assassination attempts due to "divisive rhetoric" and comments comparing the former president to Hitler, a former aide to a Republican Georgia Senator and Governor has told GB News.

Speaking to GB News, Martha Zoller said the impact of inflammatory language poses dangers to public figures.

The Republican commentator highlighted the implications of labelling political opponents as existential threats or historical villains.

"When you go around saying someone is a threat to democracy or calling them Hitler, it can lead certain individuals to believe it’s acceptable to take that person out," Zoller reflected on the dangerous consequences of such rhetoric.

The former aide to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Senator David Perdue emphasised that using the term "Hitler" to describe American politicians is not only inaccurate but also deeply irresponsible.

Zoller said: "There is no American politician, and I would argue there’s no British politician, that is a Hitler.

"No elected person that fits that description."

Despite the serious nature of the assassination attempts on Trump, the ongoing rhetoric from some corners continues to label him a threat to democracy.

"Their rhetoric has not come down at all," the US political analyst pointed out.

Earlier this month, a third assassination attempt against Donald Trump was foiled after a gunman presented fake VIP credentials.

Vem Miller, 49, was stopped at a checkpoint ahead of the ex-President's rally in Coachella, California on October 12.

On September 15, a Secret Service agent spotted a rifle near Trump's Florida golf course, leading to gunfire.

Ryan Wesley Routh has been charged with the attempted assassination of a presidential candidate in connection with this incident.

On July 13, Trump survived his first assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania, where he was wounded and another person was killed.

Shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks struck Trump in the ear before being shot dead by the Secret Service.

Acknowledging that Trump himself has also used inflammatory rhetoric, the host of The Martha Zoller Show continued to tell GB News that there is an urgent need for political discourse to shift towards a more civil and respectful tone.

"We’ve got to really lower the temperature because words matter," Zoller said.
