Pro-Palestinian protesters held a demonstration outside the home of MP Tobias Ellwood, with signs accusing him of being "complicit in genocide"

A Conservative MP has revealed he has "bulletproof clingfilm on the windows" of his home, and "panic alarms" in his bedroom.

In an remarkable interview on GB News, Jonathan Gullis warned protestors who might ever plan to target him at home that he would "take action" if the police wouldn't.

Mr Gullis was reacting to the behaviour of protestors outside the home of Tobias Ellwood which he described as ‘intimidation’ and ‘harassment’ and said ‘the police should have been putting handcuffs on people.

Corrie Drew, who stood as Labour's candidate against Ellwood in Bournemouth East in 2019, was among the demonstrators campaigning outside the property.

She clutched a placard that showed Ellwood with blood on his hands and it read “Tobias Ellwood you can’t hide you’re complicit in genocide.”

In an impassioned statement Mr Gullis said he would ‘take action into my own hands’ if he felt his family were threatened.

Gullis said: “I was incensed by what I saw because that is intimidation, that is harassment.

“MPs can be contacted via email or phone. They have surgeries that people can attend. We have social media accounts that people can leave comments on.

“I literally do street surgeries where I send letters to random households to say if you want me to knock on your door, shove this in the window.

“Anyone in my community can challenge me. But if you dare come near my house, believe me if the police aren't going to take action, I'll take action into my own hands.

“I'm not having my three year old daughter, my two year old son and my fiancée put in danger because a bunch of thugs want to turn up outside my house and intimidate.

“My children and my fiancée should not fall victim to the fact that I happen to be the MP and that I have a certain view, which by the way, may not be shared in my own household.

“So people need to get off their ignorant high horses, they need to stay in their houses when it's the evening.

“If they want to have a protest outside my office, by all means they can do that as long as my staff are informed in advance, and I can ensure that they're safe and the police are going to check that properly.

“But how dare people try and harass politicians like this?

"You people may not like us all the time, but to do that is completely acceptable and the police should have been putting handcuffs on people.”

Mr Gullis continued by saying he had had to take a number of measures to protect his home including the use of bulletproof cling film and panic buttons.

The MP added : "I shouldn't have to live like that."
