Speaking on the fringes of the Conservative Party Conference, the London mayoral candidate accidentally declared herself a member of the Labour Party

Susan Hall accidentally told Conservative members that she wants to be "the first female Labour mayor".

She immediately corrected herself, saying she in fact wants to be the first female "London" mayor.

The gaffe occurred on the fringes of the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester, at the Big London Debate.

She made the remarks during a speech at the end of the debate, in which she promised to win the mayoral elections.

The Conservative candidate for mayor promised to "put things right in London".

Hall said: "Let's start with the Ulez expansion.

"That has been a catastrophe for so many families in outer London - for charities, small businesses.

"Some of the emails I am getting are heartbreaking.

"People want to know how they're going to get to work. How they're going to get to hospital. They all say that Rishi Sunak is on the side of motorists.

"It's not just that. He is - thank goodness, and common sense is reigning - but he's on the side of all of us.

"He wants to make life easier for us."

She continued: "Sadiq Khan I think he would prefer to be spending his time writing another book, visiting cannabis factories, whatever.

"So I'm going to help him out.
