Musk made a jab in response to calls from Scottish politicians to set up a Tesla factory in the UK

Sir Keir Starmer has become involved in another row with Elon Musk after the billionaire said that “very few companies” want to invest in the UK.

The SpaceX CEO said that under Starmer’s “current administration” businesses were looking elsewhere, in a scathing critique of the Prime Minister’s first six months of power.

Musk made the claims on X, his social network, in response to calls from Scottish politicians to set up a Tesla factory in the country.

The close ally of Donald Trump said online: “Very few companies will be willing to invest in the UK with the current administration.”

Starmer has since hit back at Musk’s claims, rejecting his assessment of the Government’s policies and pointing to the billions of pounds that have come into the UK since he became PM.

His official spokesperson said: “I’m not going to get into commentary on individual comments, but if you look at what’s happened since the election, you’ve seen the £63 billion of additional investment from the investment summit.

“You’ve seen the government respond to some of the businesses’ key concerns in the UK, which is lack of stability, and the government’s brought back that stability, both politically and economically.”

The spokesman added that “the Government has taken an unashamedly pro-growth and pro-business approach”.

The relationship between the British Prime Minister and the Tesla tycoon has been rocky, with numerous spats online throughout the year.

In September, Musk was not invited to the UK International Investment Summit, resulting in the billionaire blasting Britain.

Musk said: “I don’t think anyone should go to the UK when they’re releasing convicted paedophiles in order to imprison people for social media posts.”

As riots unfolded across the country, the billionaire had shared false claims on X claiming that Britain was building “detainment camps” in the Falkland Islands for rioters.

He had also predicted the country would sink into civil war - as well as continuously making jabs at the PM online.

Musk also joined in on calling him Two Tier Keir, an accusation Starmer has repeatedly denounced.

The billionaire is also rumoured to be considering giving a major donation to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.

Farage confirmed discussions about a donation took place during a visit to Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where he was accompanied by Reform's new Treasurer, former Tory donor Nick Candy.

He assured that any financial contribution from the billionaire would be “legal and above board”.
