James McMurdock won South Basildon & East Thurrock after three recounts

Reform UK MP James McMurdock has issued a direct message to GB News viewers as the populist party aims to enter power in 2029.

McMurdock, 38, shared his message after delivering his keynote speech to Reform UK's 4,000-strong audience at the NEC yesterday.

The South Basildon & East Thurrock MP, who won his Essex seat by just 98 votes on July 4, explained how important it is for supporters to ensure Nigel Farage becomes Prime Minister in 2029.

He told GB News: "We want you, we need you. We're going to do it and we'll be all the easier with the more more support from you guys. So please get involved."

McMurdock also revealed how Reform UK will look to build on the 4.1 million votes it received in 2024.

He added: "In terms of strategy, it's just being open with people. What is being done at the minute doesn't work. It isn't working.

"Not only is it not working, things are getting worse. But the solution is not more of what caused the problems.

"The solution is giving people back their independence, back their own money.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"And when we do spend their money, make sure we spend it properly.

"It's taxation at the minute where, you know, I don't feel like I'm getting value for money.

"When I see what money's coming out of my pay packet, I think most people at home feel the same.

"We've got to be responsible for people. That's what it is. It's a privilege. We've got to be responsible."

During his speech in the NEC, McMurdock took aim at Sir Keir Starmer over Labour's decision to axe Winter Fuel Payments.

McMurdock said: "We had increased our foreign aid budget by £1.4billion.

"What's more shocking is that the same amount as the proposed savings from the Winter Fuel Payment is £1.4billion.

"I wrote to the Chancellor before the vote demanding we prioritise our pensioners over foreign aid."
