Nigel Farage became the leader of the Reform party and will stand as a candidate for Clacton in this summer's general election

Nigel Farage has had an "explosive impact" on the General Election campaign and could make Reform UK the "second biggest party", Andrew Pierce has told GB News.

This comes as the latest YouGov polling has revealed that Reform are now at 17 per cent, just two points behind the Conservatives and third behind Labour, who are currently polling at 40 per cent.

Discussing their election chances on Chopper's Political Podcast, the GB News presenter predicted that Farage and the Reform Party could "overtake" Rishi Sunak and the Tories in the next set of polling over the weekend.

When asked by Political Editor Christopher Hope about their chances, Andrew explained: "I think we will see Reform UK become the second biggest party by polling.

"I think it's because of the surprise, the explosive impact. Nobody saw it coming."

Farage's U-turn on his election decision saw him declare at the bombshell press conference that he's simply "changed his mind" and will now stand in the Essex town of Clacton.

Noting the sudden change of heart, Andrew said that the level of "exposure" Farage's campaign has had so far will benefit Reform.

Andrew told GB News: "He's had a lot of exposure. It was a gift for him having the milkshake thrown in his face, not suggesting for a second he had any hand in that. He didn't.

"It was a wicked thing to happen, actually, because that could have been acid and it's very serious. But he's got surprise. But I wonder if he if if this means he peaks this weekend."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Christopher then highlighted that the next major event of the election campaign is "manifesto week", which could further impact the polling figures.

Andrew argued that following his analysis of the Reform Party, where he unveiled that Farage is a "53 per cent shareholder" in the "company", their "manifesto" will actually be called a "business statement".

He added: "They don't call it a manifesto, they call it a business statement. And they would because they're not a political party, they are a company."

Christopher then argued that "no one cares" about how the Reform Party operates as Farage "is not going to win power".

Turning the discussion to Farage and Reform's election chances, Andrew revealed that it is predicted that they may only win "five seats maximum" overall.

He told Christopher: "If you talk to even the most loyalist of our supporters, they're saying they don't think they'll get more than four or five seats maximum.

"And they're not even sure Farage will win because it's a 25,000 majority he's got to overturn, and the Tory candidate is very, very popular."

Commentator Kevin Maguire concluded that Farage "sees himself as the Messiah" but is a "gift to Labour in the short term".
