The Reform UK leader demanded Kemi Badenoch apologise after the no-nonsense North West Essex MP accused the populist party of 'faking' its membership ticker

Nigel Farage has confirmed he is preparing to deliver a "full response" to Kemi Badenoch's "crazy conspiracy theories" about Reform UK's membership ticker after the pair locked horns in a Boxing Day bust-up.

The Reform UK leader laid down the gauntlet after Badenoch claimed Reform UK "faked" its membership ticker.

He demanded an apology from the Tory leader ahead of tonight's appearance at Reform UK's East Midlands conference in Leicester.

Hinting at his potential next steps, Farage said: "An apology has not been forthcoming from Kemi Badenoch regarding her crazy conspiracy theories about Reform UK.

"I will be giving my full response at a sold out conference tonight in Leicester."

During their Boxing Day bust-up, Badenoch claimed Reform UK's membership milestone was "fake".

She also accused the Clacton MP of "manipulating" the populist party's supporters on Christmas Day.

The Leader of the Opposition appeared infuriated after Reform UK mocked the Tories by projecting the milestone moment onto CCHQ in Westminster.

Farage hinted at launching legal action against Badenoch on December 27, telling journalists: “I’m going to take some action in the next couple of days, and I’ve got to decide exactly what it is."

Journalists also appeared to verify Farage's assertion that Reform UK had surged past the Tories in terms of signed-up members.

The Financial Times said: "The demonstration provided strong evidence that the online counter did correspond to the number of members that had signed up to Reform."

Sky News's Ben van der Merwe added: "In fact, it all looks perfectly normal. Membership applications decline overnight, then rise in the morning."

However, a Tory source told GB News: "Fake Farage is clearly rattled that his Boxing Day Publicity Stunt is facing serious questions over a fake clock and hundreds of 'members' seemingly joining in the middle of the night.

"Like most normal people around the UK, Kemi is enjoying Christmas with her family and looking forward to taking on the challenges of renewing the Conservative Party in the New Year."

Badenoch's intervention was also unable to stifle the surge in sign-ups for Reform UK.

After initially setting a target of 131,680 members, Reform UK's total tally stood at 166,235 on January 3.
