Tory MP Mike Freer has said he wears a stab vest when going out in public.
The comments come just days after his office was targeted by an arson attack. He said the threat of violence is "par for the course these days".
Police are currently investigating a fire at the MP's office in north London. It is believed to have been started deliberately.
Speaking to Sky News today, Freer said: "Without being blase sadly it's become part of the job and it shouldn't be.

"Too many MPs have had to cope with physical threats and sadly we've seen several of my colleagues losing their lives.
"It's difficult to take it in your stride but it is a fundamental part of our democracy that members of Parliament are accessible to our constituents and I wouldn't want that to change.
He added: "Unfortunately, that goes with risks these days.
"I personally like some of my other colleagues wear stab vests to do public events and sadly that is par for the course these days and shouldn't be."
Former MP David Amess was stabbed to death during his constituency surgery in 2021.
During the trial of Amess' murdered, terrorist Ali Harbi Ali, it emerged that Freer's office had also been scoped out by the killer.
Speaking to Sky, Freer added: "There have been some low-level stuff but also some quite more serious attacks on me and my office."
The MP said "all reasonable steps" have been taken to ensure that he and his staff are safe.
Speaking about the fire at Freer's office, which took place on Christmas Eve, a Met Police spokesperson said: "The cause of the fire is under investigation as it is believed it may have been started deliberately.

In a statement, Conservative Party Chairman Richard Holden said the incident was "utterly appalling".
He added: "Thank goodness no-one was injured and glad I was able to speak to one of the long-standing staff members today."
